Prosecutors Say Helmerich Rig Chief Lied On Blowout Tests

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 1:41 PM EST) -- Prosecutors charged a former Helmerich & Payne Inc. oil rig manager in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday with lying to a federal inspector about testing and recording conducted on the rig’s blowout preventer.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana alleges Donald Hudson, manager of Helmerich Rig 206, lied to an agent from the Department of the Interior when he denied that he told his crew to falsify the blowout preventer system's records.
