Australia OKs $432M Rail, Power Project At Rio Tinto Mine

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 1:18 PM EST) -- Rio Tinto PLC has received the government go-ahead for a rail and power supply project worth more than AU$400 million (US$432 million) to accompany an expansion of its Western Australia iron ore mine, state officials said Thursday.

The approval is the final step in a $1.3 billion build-out to boost production at the Hope Downs mine — Australia's largest — by more than 15 million tons per year.
