New Drug Co. Ethics Rules Focus On Doctor Relations

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 8:39 PM EST) -- A global pharmaceutical trade association on Thursday released new ethics guidelines that proscribe how companies should interact with doctors and patient groups, as drug companies face increasing pressure from enforcement agencies over their marketing practices.

The new ethics code from the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations expands the rules on paying doctors for consulting work, giving gifts, and funding conferences and continuing medical education.
