NYSE Euronext Beats $161M IRS Beef Over Ex-CEO Pay

Law360, New York (March 2, 2012, 7:31 PM EST) -- NYSE Euronext has won a dispute with the IRS over $161 million in tax deductions it took for money it paid to long-departed CEO Richard Grasso, who left with a giant severance package, the exchange operator said Wednesday.

In November 2009, the IRS sought to disallow the business's deductions linked to Grasso, who resigned in May 2003, for his compensation for the tax years 2001, 2002 and 2003, NYSE Euronext told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in its annual report.
