John Hancock, REIT End $18M Mortgage Feud

Law360, New York (March 02, 2012, 7:55 PM ET) -- A real estate investment trust and John Hancock Life Insurance Co. on Thursday agreed to drop their lingering claims in a messy $18 million mortgage contract dispute after each side won partial summary judgment, an Ohio federal judge said Thursday.

Texas-based REIT USPG Portfolio Two LLC and Michigan-based John Hancock requested that the suit be dismissed with prejudice after both parties won partial summary judgment on Jan. 20. The companies’ mortgage dispute has bounced from Texas state court through two federal courts.
