FCC To Review Wireless Service Shutdown Regulations

Law360, New York (March 2, 2012, 5:17 PM EST) -- The Federal Communications Commission sought input Thursday on when authorities should be allowed to block wireless service for public safety reasons, in the wake of a service shutdown last year in San Francisco designed to disrupt rumored protests.

The FCC issued a public notice seeking comment on the circumstances in which interruption of wireless service is justified and which government authorities should be authorized to order an interruption, among other questions.
