Judge Awards Philip Morris $173M In Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (March 14, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge in New York has awarded cigarette maker Philip Morris USA $173 million in a trademark infringement lawsuit against a Swiss online retailer that sold illegally imported Philip Morris branded cigarettes.

U.S. District Judge Gerard Lynch of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York awarded the judgment, which includes both damages and attorney's fees, against Switzerland-based internet cigarette retailer Otamedia.
