FDA To Use DOD Data In Product Safety Decisions

Law360, New York (August 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that it would begin using military data to help make better-informed decisions about medical product safety.

According to a memorandum of understanding signed by S. Ward Casscells, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, and Andrew C. von Eschenbach, the Commissioner of the FDA, the two federal agencies will share information and expertise related to the review and use of FDA-regulated drugs, biologics and medical devices.
