US Targets India's Poultry Restrictions At WTO

Law360, New York (March 6, 2012, 6:02 PM EST) -- The U.S. announced Tuesday that it has filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization over India's restrictions on American poultry and eggs.

India contends that the restrictions are necessary to prevent bird flu, but the U.S. maintains that India has not provided scientific evidence to support its claims.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, who decried India's restrictions at a congressional hearing last week, said in a statement that opening the Indian market to U.S. products is necessary to support U.S. jobs.
