House Passes Hydropower Bill To Waive NEPA Regs

Law360, New York (March 7, 2012, 5:52 PM EST) -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a bill that would set aside federal environmental review of the installation of hydroelectric generators into existing pipelines and water canals.

In a 265-154 vote, lawmakers backed legislation sponsored by Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Colo., which he touts as a means of advancing affordable and safe energy alternatives, providing jobs and promoting the Obama administration’s “all-of-the-above” energy initiative.
