Law360, New York (March 07, 2012, 11:20 PM ET) -- Bank of America NA regularly denied qualified homeowners access to a federal program meant to help those facing foreclosure, while pocketing financial incentives for participating in the program, a whistleblower said in a suit unsealed Wednesday.
In a complaint filed in the Eastern District of New York, whistleblower Gregory Mackler said BofA had a policy of qualifying just enough homeowners for participation in the federal Home Affordable Modification Program to fend off prying government agencies and Congressional skeptics.
