International Backers Eye $8.9B Australia Rail Project

Law360, New York (March 12, 2012, 5:29 PM EDT) -- An AU$8.5 billion (US$8.9 billion) project to extend Sydney's CityRail network is drawing interest from international backers, Australian government officials announced Monday.

The state government of New South Wales has held more than 40 meetings with financial institutions and potential contractors — many of them foreign firms — who have expressed interest in the North West Rail Link project, which will build 23 kilometers (14.3 miles) of new track and eight new stations in Sydney's urban rail network, according to a statement the state issued Monday....
