Arm & Hammer 'Natural' Deodorant Ads Spur Class Action

Law360, New York (March 12, 2012, 7:45 PM EDT) -- The manufacturer of Arm & Hammer deodorant deceived consumers by including synthetic ingredients in a product advertised as "natural," according to a putative class action filed Monday in New Jersey federal court.

New Jersey-based Church and Dwight Co. Inc. is accused of a false and misleading advertising campaign related to its Arm & Hammer Essentials natural deodorant.

According to the consumer complaint, the toiletry’s ingredients include triclosan, a synthetic antibacterial agent found in a wide array of products from toothpaste and soap to toys and kitchenware....
