Facebook Hires Steptoe To Lobby Its Privacy Interests

Law360, New York (March 12, 2012, 7:39 PM EDT) -- Facebook Inc. has retained Steptoe & Johnson LLP to lobby on social networking issues, according to a disclosure released Monday, marking the latest step in the company’s ongoing effort to influence privacy legislation, Internet regulations and other federal policy.

Three seasoned Steptoe partners — James Barnette, John Shadegg and Douglas Kantor — along with the firm's government affairs and public policy managing director Elizabeth Hurley Burks will act as lobbyists for Facebook's "issues relating to social networking," the company revealed in a congressional lobbying disclosure filing....
