Chipmakers Seek ITC Patent Probe Of Funai Products

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 2:40 PM EDT) -- Wireless network chipmakers LSI Corp. and Agere Systems Inc. on Monday urged the U.S. International Trade Commission to launch an investigation into Funai Electric Co. Ltd.'s alleged infringement of patents for home entertainment products that connect to wireless Internet.

The Japan-based Funai, which owns subsidiaries that make Philips, Emerson, Sylvania, and Magnavox brand products, is accused of producing audiovisual components for TVs, DVD players and other electronics that rely on patented technology, according to the ITC complaint filed by LSI and Agere.
