DC Circ. Foils Bid To Ban Mercury-Containing Vaccines

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 3:51 PM EDT) -- The Coalition for Mercury-Free Drugs on Tuesday lost a fight in the D.C. Circuit over its attempt to prevent young children and pregnant women from receiving vaccines containing a mercury-based preservative they said could cause miscarriages, autism and other developmental disorders.

The nonprofit took the case to the D.C. Circuit after a lower court determined it lacked standing to challenge the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's refusal to ban the use of thimerosal-preserved vaccines for young children and pregnant women.
