Microsoft Revises Privacy Policy To Reflect Targeted Health Ads

Law360, New York (March 14, 2012, 7:40 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has enhanced its privacy policy to reflect that it serves targeted advertisements based on users' potentially sensitive health information, an addition made in order to comply with a self-regulatory body's new health transparency standard, the company confirmed Wednesday.

On a new page about health-related personalized advertising, the company informs consumers that it serves health-related ads in nearly a dozen different “segments,” including those related to users' allergy, cholesterol, cold and flu, diabetes, migraines, oral health, sleep and vision browsing histories.
