DOT Defends Texas Highway Project Over Sierra Objections

Law360, New York (March 15, 2012, 8:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined state and federal transportation officials Wednesday in refuting claims by the Sierra Club that a 15-mile Houston tollway project violated environmental standards, saying they took proper steps to ensure construction won't cause a dam breach and flood parts of the city.

The Corps joined the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and the Texas Transportation Commission in arguing that they are entitled to summary judgment because they followed the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act...
