Sierra Club Aims To Sink Miss. Offshore Drilling Rules

Law360, New York (March 15, 2012, 4:45 PM EDT) -- The Sierra Club and the Gulf Restoration Network sued the Mississippi Development Authority on Wednesday to keep it from implementing new rules that allow offshore drilling near the barrier islands on the Gulf Coast.

The rules, finalized Feb. 15 by the Mississippi Development Authority, provide a regulatory framework for the state and companies to use in drilling operations and could take effect this month unless a judge grants the plaintiffs’ request that implementation of the rules be postponed until the judge can rule on the lawsuit’s...
