Military Research Co. Is Immune To N.Y. Law: Court

Law360, New York (August 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A court ruled on Wednesday that a non-profit military research company is shielded from state human rights laws thanks to the federal enclave doctrine, which holds that certain areas are subject only to federal jurisdiction.

Brookhaven Science Associates, a company that conducts military research on at a facility called Brookhaven National Laboratories, filed the lawsuit in 2004 against a division of the New York state government, claiming that the state had wrongfully charged it with violating New York discrimination laws.
