New York, Feds Map Hot Spots For Offshore Wind

Law360, New York (March 20, 2012, 6:36 PM EDT) -- A report released on Tuesday pushes New York closer to its plans for offshore wind power, mapping vital wildlife and geologic data about its coastal waters in an effort to streamline siting decisions and head off environmental challenges. 

The report, a joint effort by state officials and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, overlays existing information about birds, fish, coral and other life along the ocean floor to pave the way for development and keep environmental groups, developers and financial backers informed.
