Chevron, Transocean Execs Charged Over Brazil Spill

Law360, New York (March 21, 2012, 7:25 PM EDT) -- The Brazilian government on Wednesday indicted 17 Chevron Corp. and Transocean Ltd. employees on a host of charges related to their involvement in a November oil spill off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

The companies are already the focus of an $11 billion lawsuit filed by the government over the 126,000 gallon spill.

The employees, including Chevron Brazil president George Buck, are accused of obstructing the investigation of authorities, failing to comply with environmental obligations, submitting a false emergency plan, and illicit misrepresentation of documents...
