Ariz. Utility Dodges Spoiled-Food Class Claims

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 8:35 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday dismissed class action claims against an Arizona electric utility accused of bringing about a power outage that caused food in consumers' refrigerators to spoil, though fellow defendant San Diego Gas & Electric Co. remained in the suit.

U.S. District Judge Marilyn L. Huff granted a dismissal motion from Arizona Public Service Co. and its parent company Pinnacle West Capital Corp. She also agreed to stay the suit as it pertains to SDG&E, pending regulatory review of the blackouts.
