Google Tangles With Studios Over Hotfile Amicus Brief

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 7:04 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. urged a Florida federal court Wednesday to let it file an amicus brief about copyright safe harbors in a suit by several Hollywood studios against file-sharing site Hotfile Corp., arguing that the studios had no legal basis for objecting to Google's brief.

On March 12, Google sought leave to file a brief, telling the court that arguments the studios are making in the case regarding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's safe harbor provisions, if accepted, would unduly narrow the protections offered by the law....
