Request For 2 Trials Shot Down In LCD Price-Fixing MDL

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 6:09 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday refused to separate the long-running price-fixing case against a group of liquid crystal display makers into two trials, despite plaintiffs' arguments that doing so would simplify the case and would be less likely to confuse jurors.

U.S. District Judge Susan Illston did not include her reasoning in a two-page order in which she denied the LCD products' indirect purchaser plaintiffs' motion to bifurcate the trial phase, saying only that the unified trial would begin in May.
