US Appeals WTO Ruling On COOL Requirements

Law360, New York (March 23, 2012, 12:07 PM EDT) -- The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said Friday it would lodge an appeal of a World Trade Organization finding that U.S. country-of-origin labeling requirements for pork and beef runs afoul of the trade body’s rules.

“We can confirm that the United States filed its appeal today in the country of origin labeling (COOL) dispute brought by Canada and Mexico,” said Andrea Mead, a spokeswoman for the USTR.
