Deepwater MDL Court Resolves $27M In Victims' Claims

Law360, New York (March 23, 2012, 9:42 PM EDT) -- The new Gulf oil spill claims administrator said Friday that more than 1,000 spill victims who sought to resolve their claims privately with BP PLC had received a combined $27 million since the court handling multidistrict litigation over the disaster took over the claims process.

A majority of the claimants, however, hadn't accepted payment offers before a court-ordered cutoff date and as a result have received only partial payments for the time being, the administrator, Patrick Juneau, said.
