Monsanto Faces New Antitrust Suit Over "Roundup"

Law360, New York (August 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Texas Grain Storage Inc. has brought a proposed antitrust class action against Monsanto Co., accusing the agricultural company of muscling out competition in the herbicide market, and charging supra-competitive prices for its Roundup weed killer.

Texas Grain Storage filed the lawsuit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, naming St. Louis, Mo.-based Monsanto Co. as the sole defendant. Monsanto has been sued for allegedly anti-competitive behaviour in connection with the herbicide market at least twice since September 2006.
