T-Mobile Phones Step On Connectivity Patents, Suit Claims

Law360, New York (March 27, 2012, 4:50 PM EDT) -- On Track Innovations Ltd. lodged a suit against T-Mobile USA Inc. in New York federal court Monday, claiming the telecommunications company’s phones infringe a patent covering connectivity technology.

Israel-based OTI claims that T-Mobile is selling phones equipped with near field communication — a technology that allows a user to wirelessly transfer data. NFC technology boosts a phone’s connectivity capabilities, including allowing it to make contactless payments.
