AstraZeneca Sues FDA As Firms Debut Generic Seroquel

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 5:27 PM EDT) -- AstraZeneca PLC on Tuesday sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration over the agency’s approval this week of a generic version of its antipsychotic medication Seroquel that several pharmaceutical firms announced they would immediately bring to market.

The drugmaker’s lawsuit came just hours after the FDA approved 10 companies to begin selling a generic version of Seroquel. At least five of those — Mylan Inc., Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., Lupin Ltd. and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. — said they would promptly start...
