Law360, New York (March 29, 2012, 6:07 PM ET) -- A bipartisan group of House lawmakers on Wednesday introduced legislation aimed at eliminating conflicting regulations that can force energy companies to choose between complying with pollution controls and following federal orders to produce power to avert blackouts.
The bill — known as the Resolving Environmental and Grid Reliability Conflicts Act — targets the Department of Energy's ability to require electricity plants to continue operating in order to avert emergencies, including reliability-related emergencies.
