Reps. Eye Ban On Firms Pinning Jobs To Facebook Access

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 8:13 PM EDT) -- Two lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives are drawing up legislation that would ban companies from demanding access to Facebook and other social media accounts as a condition of employment.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-Colo., and a colleague from across the aisle, Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., are mulling possible legislation to prevent companies from requiring people to fork over social media passwords, said Leslie Oliver, a spokeswoman for Perlmutter.
