Horizon Tries To Thwart Par's Plans For Arthritis Generic

Law360, New York (March 29, 2012, 4:00 PM EDT) -- Horizon Pharma Inc. hit Par Pharmaceutical Cos. Inc. with a patent infringement lawsuit Monday in Delaware federal court over Par's plans to produce a generic version of the arthritis medication Duexis.

Horizon alleges Par infringed U.S. Patent Number 8,067,033 when it lodged an abbreviated new drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for approval to manufacture and sell single-dose arthritis drugs composed of a maximum-strength dose of ibuprofen combined with a lesser dose of the gastroprotective medicine famotidine.
