EU Watchdog May Probe Apple-Microsoft-Motorola IP War

Law360, New York (March 30, 2012, 8:23 PM ET) -- The European Union’s competition chief said Friday he is mulling an investigation into the widespread patent dispute between Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc.

EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said in a speech before a conference in Washington that the commission has received complaints by Apple and Microsoft against Motorola over standard-essential patents for mobile phones that they claim are not being made available in a fair manner.
