KKR Buys $306M In Gas Assets As Prices Hit 10-Year Low

Law360, New York (April 2, 2012, 1:40 PM EDT) -- Private equity firm KKR & Co. said Monday it will buy $306 million in shale gas assets in Texas and Oklahoma from WPX Energy Inc., continuing its string of energy investments even as gas prices hit new 10-year lows.

KKR Natural Resources, the firm's two-year-old partnership with driller Premier Natural Resources LLC, will pick up 27,000 acres in the Barnett Shale in north Texas and 66,000 acres acres in the Arkoma formation in eastern Oklahoma. It is KKR's first acquisition of a pure gas play in...
