Law Firm Mergers Bounce Back To Prerecession Rate: Report

Law360, New York (April 2, 2012, 4:14 PM EDT) -- The pace of law firm mergers has returned to prerecession levels, with 14 law firm mergers and acquisitions announced in the first quarter of 2012, according to an analysis legal consultant Altman Weil Inc. released Monday.

After the number of mergers and acquisitions bottomed out at 39 in 2010, a rebound began at the end of that year and continued through 2011, which saw 60 total mergers, according to Altman Weil's five-year analysis of law firm trends.
