Ex-Blagojevich Aide, Key Witness Gets 2-Year Sentence

Law360, New York (April 03, 2012, 7:29 PM ET) -- Ex-chief of staff to former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and key prosecution witness Alonzo "Lon" Monk was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison and a $7,500 fine for his role in the corruption scheme that landed the ex-governor in prison for 14 years.

Monk, who testified against the former governor in both criminal trials against him, pled guilty to wire fraud in October 2009, admitting that he participated in abuses of his position, including a shakedown of a racetrack owner for a $100,000 campaign contribution...
