Users Want EU To Probe Facebook's Missed Audit Promises

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 6:24 PM EDT) -- A European consumer rights group on Tuesday criticized the Irish data protection regulator for failing to penalize Facebook Inc. for failing to meet the agency's deadline for improving its privacy policies, and urged users to take their complaints to the European Commission.

The Irish Data Protection Commissioner released an audit of Facebook in December following the receipt of 22 complaints over the social networking giant's alleged privacy violations filed by Austrian students who later formed the consumer group Europe-v-Facebook.org.
