NJ Panel Preserves $6M Award In Kia's Bad Brakes Suit

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 6:44 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey state appeals panel on Monday reversed a trial judge’s ruling that would have put aside a jury’s verdict and possibly increased the $6 million award for a class of plaintiffs who sued Kia Motors America Inc. over allegedly faulty brakes.

The appeals panel said a trial court judge failed to articulate a sufficient basis for her actions when in August she overturned both the jury’s verdict and a previous trial court judge’s decision regarding how damages should be figured in the case....
