DirecTV Sues Tribune Over Scuttled Broadcast Agreement

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 9:36 PM EDT) -- DirecTV LLC on Monday asked the Federal Communications Commission to sanction the bankrupt Tribune Co. for allegedly reneging on a broadcast carriage agreement that left more than 5 million of the satellite television company's customers without access to Tribune local stations.

In a complaint filed with the FCC, DirecTV said Tribune, which filed for Chapter 11 protection in December 2008, violated its obligation to negotiate in good faith by failing to designate a representative with authority to make binding representations.
