Law360, New York (April 04, 2012, 2:33 PM ET) -- A Florida federal judge on Friday tossed patent infringement allegations leveled against BMW Financial Services NA LLC, finding that Digitech Information Systems Inc.'s lease securitization patent didn't hold up under the standards set out by the U.S. Supreme Court's Bilski ruling.
U.S. District Judge John Antoon II granted the automaker's financing arm's motion for summary judgment, ruling that Digitech's patent was too abstract and failed the machine-or-transformation test that helps to establish a method's patentability.
