Nebraska Keystone Bill Gains Second-Round Approval

Law360, New York (April 5, 2012, 7:07 PM EDT) -- A bill reviving Nebraska's review of the Keystone XL pipeline project moved one step away from final passage in the state legislature, gaining second-round approval through a voice vote on Thursday.

Intended to address the environmental concerns that contributed to President Barack Obama's January decision to reject TransCanada Corp.'s application for the pipeline, the latest version of the bill broadens the authority of the state's Department of Environmental Quality to determine the route within Nebraska that must be included in any future applications.
