Google Defends New Privacy Safeguards To French Watchdog

Law360, New York (April 5, 2012, 8:09 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. on Thursday argued for the lawfulness of its privacy policy in responding to less than half the questions posed by a French regulator, insisting its privacy practices aligned with those of Facebook Inc., Apple Inc. and other competitors.

The online search giant has faced widespread criticism from regulators in Europe, the U.S., Canada and Australia in recent months over its new privacy policy, which enables the company to combine and track user information across all its products as of March 1.
