Schumer Urges DOT To Require Disclosure Of Carry-On Fees

Law360, New York (April 6, 2012, 3:10 PM EDT) -- Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., urged the U.S. Department of Transportation on Thursday to require airlines to disclose carry-on baggage fees when they quote ticket prices, after a budget airline began charging customers up to $35 for the luggage.

Schumer sent a letter to DOT Secretary Ray LaHood, saying that while Allegiant Travel Co. had the right to charge the fees, not telling consumers about the total cost of the flight upfront could be misleading.
