France Hands Out €7B Worth Of Offshore Wind Contracts

Law360, New York (April 6, 2012, 7:03 PM EDT) -- The French government on Friday awarded €7 billion ($9.2 billion) worth of contracts to European energy giants like Alstom SA, Iberdrola SA and the RES Group to build four offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of nearly 2,000 megawatts.

The new projects will help France toward its goal of installing 6,000 MW of offshore wind power by 2020, according to a statement issued Friday by Eric Besson, France's minister of economy, finance and industry.
