Shearman Reps Corning In $730M Labware Unit Buy

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 2:05 PM EDT) -- New York-based glassmaker Corning Inc. has acquired the majority of health care technology maker Becton Dickinson & Co.'s Massachusetts-based labware business unit for roughly $730 million, Corning said Tuesday.

Corning, which makes glass- and ceramic-based parts for health care, electronics and engineering devices, said it had agreed to buy Becton Dickinson's Discovery Labware unit in an all-cash transaction.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close later this year.
