Journal Won't Pull Article Linking St. Jude Wires To Deaths

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 5:40 PM EDT) -- A medical journal on Monday refused to retract a published study linking St. Jude Medical Inc.'s heart-device wires to 22 patient deaths, in a development that could add ammunition to litigation against the device maker.

Heart Rhythm Journal Editor-in-Chief Douglas Zipes stressed to St. Jude on Monday that the study of its heart-device wires was peer reviewed and would be published in the print version of his journal, Zipes told Law360. The study was published in the online version of the journal in March.
