Medical Product Maker HemCon Files For Ch. 11

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 10:23 PM EDT) -- HemCon Medical Technologies Inc. said Tuesday that it was voluntarily filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, a month after the Federal Circuit reinstated a $29.4 million patent infringement verdict against the company in a high-profile en banc decision.

The Portland, Ore.-based company also announced it would ask the appeals court to rehear the portion of that decision that left standing a district court's findings that the patent-in-suit, for a polymer used to treat serious wounds, was valid and infringed and that the damages award was reasonable....
