ITC To Probe Funai, MediaTek Over AV Product Patents

Law360, New York (April 12, 2012, 4:47 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission agreed Wednesday to investigate claims brought by chipmakers LSI Corp. and Agere Systems Inc. that Funai Electric Co. Ltd., MediaTek Inc. and others infringed four patents covering Internet-connected home entertainment products.

LSI and Agere filed a complaint with the ITC on Mar. 12, accusing Funai, MediaTek and Realtek Semiconductor Corp., as well as their subsidiaries of violating Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing audiovisual components for wireless-Internet TVs, DVD players and other electronics that infringe the patents-in-suit....
