Seafood Buyers Sue Over Bumble Bee's Fishy Omega-3 Claims

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 6:59 PM ET) -- Seafood company Bumble Bee Foods LLC was hit with a proposed class action Thursday in California federal court accusing it of misleading consumers about the health benefits of its products containing omega-3.

Lead plaintiff Tricia Ogden argues in her complaint that Bumble Bee makes inaccurate statements concerning the nutritional value and benefits of its products; fails to disclose excessive levels of saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium; and mislabels its products as “rich in natural omega-3” or “excellent source of omega-3.”
